BENGUET — Commonly, one of the complaints of patients when having their check-ups in rural health units is their inconvenience. Usually, it would take hours for one patient to have their consultation since most of the time is spent in looking for their records, as well as the line queue to the RHU’s midwife on duty since the midwife had to do it all manually. This is how Berna, a 20-year old female from an indigenous group in Kibungan, Benguet described her experiences during her 1st pregnancy. The health workers had difficulty in managing her and it would take a long time to finish her consultation. With their native language Kankanaey, the health workers said, “kulang na kulang ang mga gamit.”
Now, on her 2nd pregnancy, Berna expressed her happiness and surprise since her prenatal check-up has become faster and more efficient with the use of the RxBox and CHITS. It is now very convenient for Berna to have her prenatal consultation especially that their RHU is a two-hour walk from home.
